Vor unserem Haus steht ein großer Nussbaum. Als ich gestern nach der Messe zurück ins Haus ging, sammelte dort ein Jugendlicher Nüsse. Ich traf ihn schon zum zweiten Mal. Ich kannte ihn und fragte, was er mit den Nüssen mache. „Oh, ich knack mir jeden Tag ein paar Nüsse und dann back ich auch noch einen Nusskuchen!“ Ich freute mich über sein Engagement und fragte, ob ich ihm von den Nüssen, die ich schon aufgelesen hatte, eine Kiste geben könne? Verlegen winkte er ab. Mir kam das Motto des Tages in den Sinn. Ich ging ins Haus, holte eine große Kiste voller Nüsse und schüttete sie in seine Einkaufstasche. Dann schaute ich in seine Augen und spürte seine tiefe Freude.
In front of our house there is a big nut tree. When I went back to the house yesterday after mass, a young man was collecting nuts. I met him already for the second time. I knew him and asked what he was doing with the nuts. "Oh, I crack a few nuts every day and then I bake a nut cake too!" I was pleased with his commitment and asked if I could give him a box of the nuts I had already picked up? Embarrassed he waved away. The motto of the day came to my mind. I went into the house, got a big box of nuts and poured them into his shopping bag. Then I looked into his eyes and felt his deep joy.
