What remained was a deep joy!

I had a long night journey ahead of me on the train from Kyiv to my home town. An elderly man was sitting in my train cabin. We struck up a friendly conversation. After a while, a soldier joined us in the cabin. The older man spoke to him. He told us a lot about everything he had experienced during the war. Then the older man got up and soon returned with two cups of tea he had bought in the on-board restaurant. And he brought a third cup for me. Although I don't like to drink anything on the train, I drank the tea with the two of them. We had a good time together. When we said goodbye, each of us left with a real joy in our hearts.
