I had known them for years. I had been able to accompany them through many difficult and challenging moments in their lives. Now they were celebrating their golden wedding anniversary. They came to a mass in our church. During the service, the wife addressed her husband with a moving message: "50 years ago we said to ourselves: With God's help we can do it! And we have made it!" Tears could be seen in many eyes. Then the man rose and, turning to me, he said: "I had lost my faith through many bad experiences in the church. I wanted nothing more to do with the church. And you came at a time when we were really in a bad way and simply helped. You made sure that our fridge was no longer empty and that the children had something to eat." Then his voice failed him. He cried. Suddenly, a love was tangible in which everyone was deeply touched.
