A visit from Ukraine ha – Somethin d been announced. The weekend brought a shared time slot. I had the impulse to do something special. But what, I asked myself. I had been given a book about Etty Hillesum, a young Jewish woman who died in Auschwitz concentration camp at the age of 28, entitled: ‘Yes, there is another reality!’. The way in which Etty had discovered God's closeness in difficult times had really touched me. I selected three short texts from her diary entries, translated them into English and combined them with a visit to three very different church buildings. ‘Listening in’ - “Alone, I am entrusted to myself” and ’I want to help you, God!’ We set off on Saturday afternoon. We read a text in each church and entered into a deep dialogue. At the end of the day, we had seen many beautiful things, but the most important thing was the discovery: ‘There is another reality!’ The hidden God, who came to life in our shared dialogue, gave us a deep sense of peace.
