Easter Sunday afternoon - the celebrations for Easter in our Catholic parish are almost over again. A quick run to the office and then a somewhat quieter afternoon, I thought. On my way from the office to the house next door, I see a group of people standing in front of the Protestant church, 70 metres away, and one of them is waving at me. It is one of the Protestant pastors standing there with a small group of engaged people. Together they are reflecting upon their Easter in the parish. We wave to each other from a distance, and I feel the impulse to cross over to the small group. I do so and after a cheerful greeting, the question comes to me about how Easter was. So I tell them about our meetings in the recent days, especially with the network "go4peace", which is well known in the group. There is interest in the current state of the network's developments, which are not really known. So I report on that as well to the very attentive people. After various requests, the group reports on developments in the Protestant parish in Kamen, which I also did not know about. I have the impression that through this unplanned encounter, a ray of light from the risen Jesus has become perceptible to us.
And so, after about half an hour, we parted again, the Protestant pastor saying to me: "Thank you for not only greeting us at a distance, but for coming over to us when we saw each other, that made me very happy, and also to hear from you how you live. I didn't know most of that yet. It was like an update on your life now. Thank you, thank you for that."
