For a long time, my son had a burning wish to be able to improve the world more sustainably and with greater steps. He doubted that all the small gestures and rays of hope that we can give really make a difference. I had tried several times to explain their meaning to him. He understood, but it remained a blockade. Then, unexpectedly, came an incredible "answer". An African friend - a brave woman who works hard and sends most of her money to Africa to support her grandchildren - visited us. Due to Corona, she had a big loss of earnings. We decided to help her financially. During a return visit, I handed her an envelope with money. Shortly afterwards, she stood in front of our door and cried with joy. Her 5-year-old grandson had fallen ill with meningitis in Africa. There, he was denied effective treatment without a down payment. The little boy's condition worsened and became life-threatening. Through our money, which she forwarded immediately, he was treated in hospital and is now on the road to recovery. What a joy that was! "Love has consequences", even in a small gesture there is the seed for the Kingdom of God, as in the mustard seed parable. Thus Jesus showed our son in a very concrete way that (our) love is NEVER in vain.
