They were visiting our country for a few days. We hadn't seen each other for a long time. So they came and stayed overnight. We began to talk. In the early days, the contact had been more intensive. In the meantime, there was a lot of responsibility on our shoulders, so there was often little time. It was often about financial support for their projects. They had become involved in networks that didn't seem very positive. After a long approach, deep in the night I felt the urgent need to name these discrepancies, openly and clearly. I might have to hurt them for the sake of the truth. They seemed shocked, they hadn't had much information. ‘Thank you for being so open and honest with us! This gives us a new clarity, because everything that is not given in the light of God and out of honest love has no value, on the contrary!’ These moments seemed to me to be guided by the Holy Spirit. I understood a word of Jesus that had always been closed to me. ‘Have salt in yourselves and keep peace with one another!’ (Mark 9:50) Lazy peace paralyses. Salt, sprinkled into relationship wounds, burns and cleanses. It makes peace possible anew!
