A spark in my heart

It had simply become too much to do, so I decided to cancel an activity for refugee children on Christmas Eve. A teacher called. She asked if the activity would take place again. I hesitated. I felt that at that moment God was asking for my greater love. "Yes," I said, "the activity will take place!" Some days before Christmas, we understood that we could not personally take the 88 gifts to the children in times of Corona. So we wrote a letter inviting them to the parish center to receive the gifts at the door. Two female students helped with the actual work. The campaign went great. Almost all the children came. There was a deep joy among us. At the end, 10 presents remained. The two young women decided, "We'll distribute them in our town!" Late at night, as I was reading my Christmas letters and cards, I read in the letter from one of students, "I have become a person I always wanted to be through all the activities we did together this year. There was always a little flame inside me. I didn't know how to ignite it. You guys helped me. Now it's burning."
