It must have been the first really sunny afternoon in a week. People were drawn outside. Many were out for a walk. Some were cycling. And again some were running a big lap along the way. As I noticed the sun's rays flooding my face with warmth, we watched the people coming towards us. Many were walking with their families and with their dogs. Again and again we noticed unfriendly, sometimes fearful, maybe even confused reactions to our warm "hello". Just when we thought to ourselves that for many people even a simple "hello" or "good day" no longer seems desirable, the word of the month struck us deeply: "Don't judge." Who knows what many people are going through right now? Who knows who they may have lost to the Corona Crisis? Who knows what psychological crisis some people are going through right now? Nevertheless (or because of that) we greeted the oncoming people much more cordially than before.
The next day we were approached by a young jogger who stopped in front of us, beaming, and said, "I just wanted to say hi and wish you a really nice day!" My little brother looked at me with big, bright eyes and asked, "Does she know you?" - "No, but sometimes it's the very small moments in life that shine as bright and warm as the sun..."
