Peace in Practice

During a school camp, two teenagers had shown very negative religious sentiments, destroyed symbolic objects and deeply hurt members of another faith. The aim was to make the young people aware of this and help them come to terms with it. A teacher who was deeply committed to building bridges between different world views had contacted me. During our conversation on the phone, we decided to help the teenagers experience the diversity of religious beliefs first-hand. Shortly afterwards, another teacher got in touch regarding the same matter. We found a good way to invite the young people to explore new horizons. “I’m so happy that you were immediately on board!” I heard the young teacher say. Peace can only ever be achieved in concrete terms!
