On my way to visit my mother, traffic conditions took me through many small villages that I hadn't driven through for a long time. It was around 4 p.m. At the side of the road in one of the villages stood a little girl with a large school bag and a cap pulled down low over her face because it was cold. I could just see her eyes. She had just come from school as a learner driver. Although there was no other car in sight, I stopped and waved the little girl across the road in a friendly manner. She began to wave back and smiled at me. Even as I drove on, I could see in the rear-view mirror that she was still waving to me. The eyes and joy of this child had touched my heart deeply. My thoughts and my joy turned into a prayer for this little citizen of the world.
