I had two parcels to deliver to the post office. When I arrived, I joined a long line. Everyone waiting stood silently behind each other, looking a little bored and impatient. My attention was drawn to an elderly woman who was using a walker. She was trying in vain to manoeuvre a parcel she had picked up into a shopping bag. ‘May I help you?’ I asked her cautiously. She looked at me in surprise. After a few moments, the parcel was stowed away in the bag and we also managed to fit a second parcel into the hanging basket on her walker. ‘That was very kind of you! Now I can go home feeling happy!’ she told me.
