‘Blessed are you poor, for yours is the kingdom of God!’ we had heard as the Gospel of the day and in a prayer - addressed to God - it had said: ’It is your joy to dwell with men!’ I had developed my sermon thoughts from the three terms ‘poor-blessed’ - ‘you-blessed’ - ‘happy-blessed’. After the service, I had a conversation with a man. A deep trust quickly grew. His sadness, but also his understanding of many who no longer come on Sundays, came to his lips. I told him about the online programme ‘With Jesus on board - a course for young sailors'. This enables young people to experience the living Jesus among themselves, because he wants to live with us. ‘These young people then have less catechetical knowledge and more a living experience that often touches them deeply,’ I shared my experience. ‘Oh, how nice to be able to hear all that. I can feel that things are moving on, very differently than before!’
