Building bridges

Following an inner impulse, I called an elderly nun. In the house where she lived, very motivated Indian sisters were looking after the German sisters who had grown old. My conversation partner immediately began to tell me about one of the Indian sisters who had confided in her the great need of a family she knew. The Christian family had moved to a largely Muslim country because of the husband's work. The father of the family was the only Christian in his company. He was very popular and respected for his skills. Nevertheless, after some time he was made redundant and offered the job to a Muslim employee. The family was suddenly left with nothing. I had received some money for the people in need from a German father who had also fallen into great need with his family and whom I was able to accompany. Now I knew who I had received this money for. The next time I called, the Indian sister was crying with joy on the phone.
